painting
While I have been properly trained and taught using oil paints, I strongly prefer acrylics which is used for the majority of the paintings below. I had an excellent professor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania that I was able to take two painting classes with. We painted from life, either still life arrangements or the human figure. These were truthfully some of the classes I found most fascinating for the way I re-learned how to see color - if it is a warm or a cool tone or exactly what colors I could mix to get that specific color.

falling water series
This series was painted as gifts for someone close to me over a three year period. Each painting is of the architectural beauty, Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright in every season (summer, fall, winter, and spring respectively). Something that I love about this series is the clear development of my skills as a fine artist. The first painting I did was actually the one on the far right. I painted that Falling Water before I really got the chance to take the foundations art classes like drawing and painting at Edinboro University. In order, I painted the far left first, autumn second, then the far right, and finally the winter painting. I love seeing how my education helped me to improve my sighting, proportions, perspective, color mixing, and overall execution.
drawing
I truly enjoyed the process of learning to properly draw in college. I took a number of foundational drawing courses with a very talented professor. We drew from life, either still life arrangements or the human figure. I learned how to sight object in proportion and proximity to one another, how to work from general to specific, how to draw gesturally, how to use shading and proportion to show space, and so on. I am a doodler no more.
